In announcing the result of the 2007 Festival for the Freemasons’ Grand
Charity the Provincial Grand Master, John Clayton said that he was proud to be
a Freemason, proud to be a Yorkshire Freemason, and proud of the Brethren
of the Province and immensely proud that the Festival had raised the
staggering sum of £5,022,849.,

In receiving the cheque on behalf of the Grand Charity the President, Grahame
Elliot thanked the Province for their generosity and said that it was the largest
amount ever raised for a Grand Charity Festival.

The Festival was launched in 2001 at Pudsey Civic Centre and reached its
climax at a gala event held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Saturday, 28
April 2007. Over 700 representatives from across the Province attend
together with the Deputy Grand Master, Peter Lowndes, the Vice Lord-
Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Mr John Brennan and Mrs Brennan, The Lord
Mayor of Leeds, Cllr Mohammed Iqbal and representatives of other Provinces
